An Accredited Sports Nutritionist, Juliet works comfortably alongside team members, individual athletes, coaches, parents, sponsors and recreational sports enthusiasts involved in a broad spectrum of sports including; badminton, rowing, triathlon, speed skating, swimming and rugby. However, Juliet is best-known for her ground breaking work in extreme sports; including racing to the South Pole, The Paris-Dakar Desert Race, The Trans-Atlantic Rowing Race, and in particular for her work in Offshore Sailing.
When she first decided to practice in sport, Juliet automatically followed her own passion and looked to develop a role for herself in sailing. Over four years ago, Juliet teamed up Ellen MacArthur and Offshore Challenge and has advised Ellen on every challenge that she has undertaken during that period, including Ellen’s epic record-breaking solo circumnavigation in 2004. The benefits of Juliet’s advice have been invaluable to Ellen, as has her professionalism and dedication. The well-documented results of her work with Ellen, ‘Global Challenge’ crews and other Offshore Sailors, such as the up and coming Lia Ditton (who recently came second in the 2006 ‘Route du Rhum’ race), have altered the perception of nutrition within one of the most challenging sports arenas. Juliet and the science behind sports nutrition are now considered to be a critical component in the programme of any serious sailing challenge. Juliet lives on the south coast, near Chichester in West Sussex, where she has practised as Consultant Performance Nutritionist for eight years. In addition, Juliet works as an Associate Lecturer at both Chichester and Roehampton Universities where she teaches on undergraduate and post-graduate courses. These opportunities allow her to pass on her knowledge to the students as well as ensure her own knowledge is cutting edge. |
